Why Pokémon Mega Evolution Remains Popular Amidst TCG Scalping Frenzy

2025 is a great year for both the Pokémon franchise and fans. If you are thinking about Mega Evolution, that’s exactly what we are talking about. Mega Evolution is said to be a big comeback in video games and TCG.

However, Pokémon fans fear that the scalpers are after the pre-orders. On July 14, 2025, the company discontinued the Mega Evolution pre-orders, and scalpers quickly secured them.

Is the Pokémon Mega Evolution Set Begin Scalped?

Scalpers are trying hard to get their hands on the Pokémon Mega Evolution as it is listed on The Pokémon Center website. Scalpers resell them at significantly higher prices. The company has predicted such a move and introduced anti-bot protection. Numerous players were able to get their hands on Booster Bundles, ETBs, and Booster Boxes. Even with anti-bots, many still resell the set on eBay and other sites at an unreasonable price.

In the US, ETBs (Gardevoir and Lucario) are listed on eBay and other e-commerce sites for $390. Furthermore, the Elite Trainer Boxes cost $300 to $400, and a single ETB is sold for $150. On the official Pokémon Center website, Elite Trainer Boxes are only $59.99, making the scalped prices unrealistic.

Pokémon Mega Evolution Remains A Hit

A long queue was seen waiting to get their hands on Pokémon TCG pre-orders, even when scalpers were hiking the prices. Reports have shown that many players who wanted to purchase a Pokémon Center ETB or Booster Box were out of luck as they were sold out pretty quickly.

To prevent server crashes and reseller bots, the Pokémon Center website introduced a virtual queue. User identity was to be authenticated before entering the queue. However, players were frustrated because the website did not show how long one should wait or how many were waiting in line. They had to sit for hours as things were selling out.

Many lucky players shared their success in the comment boxes. Those who did not get individual ETBS spent money on the expansion set. Players experienced a collective disappointment as they had to wait for the website to authenticate their entry. They also have to spend long hours seeing if any of the sets were available and reasonable to buy.

We can see that there is a current shortage of Pokémon TCG. This has been going on for months, and means there is a scarcity of restock numbers. It is also because of scalpers that the number of TCGs has been limited for now. The Mega Evolution pack is set to continue the Trading Card Games. It will feature over 180 cards, including secret rares. In addition, 15 Trainer cards, 22 full art Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and Trainer Cards, 22 Illustration Rare Pokémon, and 10 Special Illustration Rare Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and Supporter cards, are going to be featured in the expansion pack.

New Lineup for Mega Evolution Pack – September 2026

According to PokeBeach, many products from the Mega Evolution pack are set to debut in September 2026. Many players will be able to collect their pre-orders very soon. Fans are looking forward to the new ETBS that will be launched along with the series.

However, there is no confirmation about what has been added to the ETBs. It is also claimed to be similar to that of existing ones, which means more booster packs, promo cards, and Pokémon TCG accessories. Another popular item added to the Mega Evolution lineup is Scarlet and Violet, and a premium figure collection of Umbreon and Espeon.
