Apple May Launch Cheaper MacBook with iPhone A18 Pro Chip – Latest Leak

Have you ever imagined a MacBook running on an iPhone processor? At first glance, it seems like a utopian idea, but recent exciting news from Apple Inc. has made Apple users fall head over heels. The latest news from the spokesperson of Apple Inc. is that they are reportedly working on a cheaper MacBook using an iPhone processor.

Ming-Chi Kuo, the supply chain analyst from Apple Inc., has recently posted on X that the company is actively planning a new 13-inch MacBook using their latest A18 Pro chip. According to Ming-Chi Kuo’s short post on X, the affordable MacBook he mentioned is likely to be launched at the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026.

The newly designed Mac featuring the A18 chipset would be the first MacBook running on an A-series chip. The A18 Pro chipset, which is used in the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, features a 6-core CPU (4 performance, 2 efficiency), a 6-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. It offers an advanced performance and improved efficiency over its previous version, A17 Pro.

A Cheaper 13-inch MacBook available in Various Colours?

According to Ming-Chi Kuo’s latest X post, the newly designed device will reportedly be available in various colours, including silver, blue, pink, and yellow. Apple fans have called for Apple to bring its colour codes from the iMac line to the MacBook, but they haven’t done anything about that, and the arrival of the new MacBook in different colour options will address the issue to an extent.

Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the company is looking to sell around 5 to 7 million units of this product in 2026, and they believe this will help Apple to get back on track in shipment figures, which were at a peak in their pre-COVID-19 shipment era.

Potential Price

A MacBook working on an iPhone chipset is a revolutionary concept; if it lives up to expectations, the device will incite a lot of discussion in the technology arena. Potential price would be the major point that is going to fuel most of the debates. There is no official information regarding this particular product available at the moment. The latest M4 MacBook Air is available at $849, and it is quite an affordable and fair price for a device with that kind of performance.

Even though we don’t have access to the price details of the product, we can expect it to roll out within a price range of $600 to $700, or maybe less. A potential lower price for the product might place Apple in a competitive position where it can compete against mid-level Windows devices and cheaper Chromebooks. Making it available at a cheap price can also attract users with comparatively less heavy tasks like using email, web browsing, and other basic tasks.

Better Performance than M1 MacBook Air?

The M1 MacBook Air is a good device that offers very good performance for everyday tasks and some tasks that demand a heavy workload. A MacBook powered by the latest A18 Pro chipset could match the performance of the M1 MacBook Air or beat its capabilities.

The multi-core performance in M3, M4, and A18 Pro is identical, and anyone satisfied with the performance of the M1 MacBook Air or any other Apple Silicon MacBook Air will also be satisfied with the product driven by the A18 Pro processor.
